I really like the choices Selena Gomez is making, especially in contrast to Miley Cyrus who is trying way too hard to be an adult by dressing and performing in inappropriate ways, with parents who seem to encourage her to do this.
Selena Gomez on the other hand, says she's in no hurry to grow up, and will enjoy being who she is just at the moment. I think this wise both personally and professionally, and will result in a much longer career and stability going forward for her.
Even so, Selena Gomez is getting busier and busier, as she will have a movie released very soon, and she has a deal with Sara Lee where her face is plastered all over their bread; about 30 million loaves.
Being true to her young fan base has paid off for Selena, as her show "Wizards of Waverly Place" is now No. 1 among children aged 6-11 and tweens from 9-14 on broadcast and cable television. To me this shows the big mistake Miley Cyrus has made in attempting to acquaint being grown up with dressing and acting slutty. The two don't work out that way, but evidently those handling Miley have convinced her of it, or Miley herself foolishly believes it.
It was actually good to hear that Gary Marsh, president of entertainment at Disney Channels Worldwide, advised Gomez to "Pay attention to who your fan base is now. If you treat them right, they'll grow with you. You have your whole life to be an adult."
